In an effort to improve commercial, tourist, and travel ties between Uganda and Rwanda, Uganda Airlines plans to expand its regional network by starting daily direct flights between Entebbe and Kigali on November 18, 2026.
Uganda Airlines announced on Wednesday that it will add one of the busiest regional routes in East Africa to its expanding network by starting daily flights between Entebbe and Kigali on November 18, 2026.
The service, which will be run by a CRJ900 aircraft, is anticipated to improve air connection between Rwanda and Uganda, two neighboring nations with strong cultural, diplomatic, and economic relations.
“Kigali should have been among the first destinations when Uganda Airlines resumed operations,” stated Chief Executive Officer Ato Girma, who claimed that the airline should have started the Kigali route much earlier. Rwanda’s capital was a natural destination due to its proximity to Uganda and the long-standing relationship between the two nations. Our nations have strong historical and economic ties, and it is the capital of our nearest neighbor,” Girma stated.
According to him, the daily schedule would give travelers more options, enabling them to combine RwandAir and Uganda Airlines services for easy return flights, including same-day travel.
Col. Joseph Rutabana, Rwanda’s ambassador to Uganda, said the new route would promote trade, tourism, investment, and closer people-to-people interactions, calling it a significant development for bilateral relations.
