Elections in DRC: Kinshasa between expectation and disappointment, following the cancellation of certain results of the legislative and local elections

Nearly a week after announcing the provisional results of the Presidential election, the CENI is still working on the results of the three other simultaneous elections: legislative, provincial, and partial municipal elections. This weekend, she announced that she had canceled the results of two constituencies and the cancellation of votes obtained by 82 candidates in the legislative, provincial, but also partial municipal elections. A situation to which the people of Kinshasa react with certain fatalism.

Elections in DRC: Kinshasa between expectation and disappointment, following the cancellation of certain results of the legislative and local elections

In Gombe, an office district of Kinshasa, the streets are rather empty and traffic is fluid on this Sunday, the last day of the end-of-year holidays. A few stockbrokers are still present at their posts. It talks a little about politics and the Céni's decision to exclude candidates from local elections.

A good thing for Josepha: “The Céni made a good decision for all these deputies. For what? They stole money, they corrupted people! For me, it's good. »

Claude discovered the information from mouth to ear and admitted to being disappointed. “It’s a complicated situation, difficult to explain,” he breathes. You are going to invalidate deputy candidates. Supposedly, they had Céni machines in their home. It's inexplicable! What a dysfunction within the Céni! This story discredits the Céni.”

Farther from political debates, Fiston now wants us to talk to him about the future: “We should talk about something else, we should talk about the future, now what can we do for the Congolese. This is what we need. For the common people, for the mother, for the soldier: think about what needs to be done for the Congolese, for the Congo. »

But this political page has not yet been turned. Indeed, the Ceni does not rule out other sanctions to come.
