Lubero: a new massive fled people caused by the fighting between FARDC and M23 in Rutshuru

This new influx of displaced people into the Lubero territory has been observed for four days after the occupation by the M23 rebels of a few villages in the Rutshuru territory located around twenty kilometres from Kanyabayonga.

It is in this rural commune in the territory of Lubero that these displaced people are concentrated, the number of whom is estimated at around six thousand five hundred households.

Some stay with host families, others in churches and schools where they share classrooms with students.

“In their fled to protect themselves, these displaced people, most of them women, children and the elderly, took nothing with them. They lack everything and their situation is worrying,” report local sources in Kanyabayonga.

This rural commune has welcomed more than 30,000 other displaced households over the past year. Many of them have never benefited from humanitarian aid and live in difficult conditions.
