President Kagame urged investment with and in Africa
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda urged investment in Africa, citing the continent's abundant natural resources and human capital.

On Sunday, April 28, he urged investment in Africa during the World Economic Forum's opening plenary session on "New Vision for Global Development" to reignite development momentum.
Kagame expressed his optimism about Africa's progress, despite challenges, that the continent is uniting and moving forward. He noted that various countries are committed to promoting economic growth.
“This can't be coming from nothing but the good efforts that Africans are putting in place. And therefore, the rest of the world must look at Africa as an important entity to develop affairs with its politics, and economy,” he mentioned.
President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda acknowledged that global shocks affect all countries, but sometimes disproportionately. He emphasized that such challenges underscore the importance of inclusiveness and collaboration among different entities worldwide.
He emphasized the importance of calling out hypocrisy whenever it is seen. He also pointed out that the issue of global north and south divides persists despite being solvable.
“Africa is the only continent that has a growing middle-class...the rest of the world has to see that this is an important place to invest with and invest in. Africa has to avoid any victim mentality and start raising ourselves to the level where we should be,” Kagame said.
He added that Africa is a crucial part of the world, not just in terms of its resources, but also its people.
“Being reasonable and seeing things for what they are and being upfront in fighting for the rights, therefore, narrowing the divide. Africa has an important place to be and a role to play,” he noticed.
The Head of State acknowledged that Rwanda faces complex challenges due to its history and geography. However, he emphasized that the country chose to view itself within the context of a continent that has a lot to share.
“Rwanda has come from the dead but we are alive and thriving today. It is investments in our people, accountability, and governance that we bring into play and which we share with the rest of the continent,” he stated.
Kagame highlighted the significance of prioritizing people by investing in human capital. This involves developing it and creating opportunities for people to contribute to their well-being and growth. Such investments include education, health, and technology.
