DRC: Creation of ‘Alternative 2028’ a new political grouping which fills the void of an opposition
A new political group called 'Alternative 2028' was formed in Kinshasa on March 13th. The group is mainly made up of members from opposition political parties.

The national president of the new political structure, Ados Ndombasi, a former member of Martin Fayulu's Citizen Engagement for Development (Ecide) party, states that Alternative 2028 fills the void of a credible political opposition.
He believes there has been a lack of real opposition since the 2023 poll and last year's elections put some opposition presidential candidates in front of candidate Felix Tshisekedi.
This exposed the opposition presidential candidates' incapacity to prioritize the nation's interests over their self-interests. As a result, the opposition in the Democratic Republic of Congo is crumbling.
Ndombasi thinks this void should be filled with a radically different approach to the opposition, aiming to be a force of proposal during a mandate.
